As you may have seen in previous BWF News bulletins, we have been focusing on reduction and better management of wood waste within our industry. It’s an area which requires an industry-wide approach, which is why TREP, the Timber Industry Resource Efficiency Partnership, has been formed as part of the overall plan. Want To Reduce Your Wood Waste And The Costs Associated With It? Sign Up Here! This wider approach will demonstrate a co-ordinated effort between trade associations, manufacturers and timber suppliers working together to achieve reductions in wood waste and associated costs, as well as giving advice on waste management, market changes and developments on legislation or regulations. TREP has drawn up a Timber Industry Supply Chain Accord – an agreement to demonstrate how those signing it have pledged to work together to reach a common goal of reducing waste. The signatories are those who recognise that opportunities exist to decrease wastage rates, and agree to work together to achieve more efficient procurement and resource efficiency practices. If you feel your company would like to be at the forefront of this work, or would like to learn more, or can offer help to others on how you have already taken efficiency measures, please sign up to the Accord Agreement. You can download the document from this link, add your company details and email it back to us. You can also download the Joinery Resource Efficiency Action Plan here, or come to the seminar on Resource Efficiency Action Plans on March 2nd at Ecobuild at the Excel Exhibition Centre, London.
