The Kings Place in London, which was the winner in the Commercial and Public Access category. Merchant’s House in Shepton Mallet – ‘a labour of love’ – won the prize for conservation and restoration. The Private category award went to the remodelling of Piper Cox Joinery was part of the Hodinott Hall project team which won the award for the Best Use of Panel Products at last week’s Wood Awards ceremony. Piper Cox manufactured the American white oak panels used to create the acoustic properties of the auditorium, which were then installed by its sister company, Houston Cox Interiors. In the judges’ own words, it was ‘an excellent project which used a combination of solid wood and specific wood-based panels to a very high standard meeting the client’s demanding brief and exceeding expectations.’ Photographs and details of the winning and highly commended projects can be seen on the
