The funding has been provided as part of the Government’s Response to Redundancy Package (Train to Gain.

The money will help people who are currently under notice of redundancy or have recently lost their jobs, offering them free, flexible training to boost their skills so they can move quickly back into work.

The funding will be aimed at short-term training, but it is hoped that as many as possible of these courses can be accredited and be put towards a full qualification in the studied field.

The funding has been given directly to thirteen colleges and training providers to offer the training.

It is not yet clear if joinery related courses will be part of these colleges and training providers plans for training, but it is hoped that some of the funding will be available to support our industry.
