The Construction Products Association is looking to start a new quarterly Trade Survey covering heavy and light side product manufacturing. The Association already compiles the Construction Trade Survey, which covers the wider construction industry.

Over the past couple of years its influence and stature has increased, as a growing number of Government departments, including DCLG, HM Treasury, BIS and the Bank of England have all requested to receive it.  However, the Association is looking to produce a survey focusing purely on product manufacturing. The quarterly survey will give an insight into the state of product manufacturing and prospects for the sector looking forward. It is also an opportunity to highlight the key issues for product manufacturing to this influential audience, as opposed to general construction and contracting, where attention is generally focused. The survey will take place towards the end of each quarter, starting in March 2011, and the results for the heavy and light side sectors will be published in the first week after the quarter ends, covering:

  • Sales Volumes
  • Unit Costs
  • Capacity
  • Exports
  • Imports
  • Investment

The results of the quarterly survey will be aggregated to industry level and circulated to Association members in advance of publication.  The individual submissions will be completely confidential. I hope that as many BWF members as possible to contribute to the new survey, which can be access through the link below:

The closing date for the survey is Wednesday 23 March.
