Only 44% of businesses who have signed up to CompeteFor have fully completed their business profile. Speaking at the latest Construction Products Association Olympic briefing this week, Mike Molvey, Chief Executive of the London Business Network, urged any company which had begun the registration process for the site, which has been developed to give business across the country access to contract opportunities from the London 2012 Games, to complete and publish their profile. Companies will not be able to receive details of the opportunities coming up or be seen by buyers using the site unless their profile is published.
The Olympic Delivery Authority has made it a contract condition that 20% of all supplier contracts must be sourced through CompeteFor, and that this condition must be passed down the supply chain. To date, 2,600 opportunities have been registered on the site, leading to 356 contracts, worth a total of £110m being awarded. Other public sector suppliers, including, the London Development Agency and four London Boroughs have decided to adopt the CompeteFor system for their future procurement.
