Wood for Good ran a television advertising campaign in 2001 which included the statement that as one tree is cut down, two are planted.  Over the years it seems to have seeped slowly onto the cultural consciousness.

There’s an ad for toilet roll running at the moment which claims three re-plantings for every tree cut down.  And last night’s Omid Djalilli Show included a sketch about a London cabbie turned eco-warrior, who enforced environmental consciousness with a sustainable baseball bat – ‘Two trees were planted to replace the one that made this’.

Any bets on how long it takes before there is a realisation of the conflict between this and the popular image of wholesale deforestation?
