Most BWF members will be aware that the technical team’s resources have been stretched due to the long-term illness of Technical Director, John Hedgecock, with Technical Officer Chris Addison carrying the burden of the work.  The Executive Committee now believes that the increasing demands of standards work, government consultations and the development of the sustainability agenda, both in timber procurement and construction, means that the team needs to be reinforced.  The BWF is now advertising for a new Technical Manager, with the. aim of identifying a candidate who will, in the fullness of time, succeed to the post of Technical Director. Chief Executive Richard Lambert said, ‘This is an exciting, challenging and demanding role. Whoever takes it on will have an unparalleled opportunity to influence the development and direction of the industry they will represent and to shape the BWF’s technical services for the future.  I’m acutely aware that many able, qualified people find themselves unexpectedly on the job market at present, and I hope that they can be encouraged to apply for this. The job will be advertised in TTJ (Click here) and a job desciption can be downloaded by clicking here.  Anyone wishing to discuss the position informally and in confidence discussion, should contact Richard Lambert.
