A UAP (Unique Acceptance Procedure) draft of the European fire door test standard has been released for approval. The full name of the standard is FprEN 1634-1:2012 Fire resistance and smoke control tests for door and shutter assemblies, openable windows and elements of building hardware-Part 1 Fire resistance test for door and shutter assemblies and openable windows.  If the draft is accepted then the standard will replace the current (2008) version.

New draft of European fire door test standard released for commentThe UAP route is usually taken when it is considered that there is unlikely to be too much resistance to the content of the draft. It combines the enquiry and formal vote stage of the standards development process reducing the time from the registration of a work item by a Technical Committee to the availability of the new standard by twelve months.

Comments on the draft standard are to be returned to the secretary of BSI committee FSH/22 by 31 October 2012.
BWF-CERTIFIRE Members are reminded that they can ring the BWF technical helpline with any queries or comments.

If accepted the new test standard will be available around the middle of next year.

A copy of the draft standard should soon be available on the BSI draft review website
