Our friend and colleague John Hedgecock died yesterday morning (17 August) after battling cancer for the past two years.  John had led the BWF’s technical team since 1993 and was widely respected in the UK and across Europe as one of the leading authorities on woodworking and joinery manufacturing.  He made a significant contribution to the development of British and European standards, sitting on over 30 committees, several as either draftsman or Chairman. His breadth of knowledge, his depth of understanding, and above all his ability to explain will be greatly missed by the members of the BWF who sought his advice.  Those of us who worked with him will miss his warmth and his humour. Our thoughts and condolences are with his wife Brenda and sons, Alan & Philip and daughter Lorraine at this sad time.  His daughter Lorraine is planning to climb Mount Kilimanjaro on 28 August to raise funds for cancer research.  You can make a donation via her
