HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) have announced that they are looking very closely at the arrangements used which allow these workers tax relief for travel and subsistence costs, particularly those using salary sacrifice which often benefit the payer more than the worker. They believe some of these schemes breach existing law, but have announced the intention to legislate once they know more.
