Yet more prosecutions related to poorly maintained, poorly installed or defective fire doors are highlighted in the latest round-up of fire prosecutions under the RRO.

The summary, published in IFSEC FIRE, yet again highlights the lack of understanding about the role of fire doors by building owners in Nursing Homes, Student Accommodation, and private rented HMOs as well as a disregard for regulations.
Fines under the RRO, resulting from the fire safety breaches, ranged from £44,000 for issues including defective or wedged open fire doors to £10,000 for the operation of unlicensed HMOs and locked doors or blocked exits preventing escape in the event of a fire.
